pbm has created an internal development programme, “Focused and Indistractable”, led by Shushanik Sargsyan pbm Chief Technical Officer.
Focus doesn’t get the respect it deserves in the business world. We hear a lot about motivation, stress, emotions, leadership, and team culture, but not much attention is paid to the role that focuses plays in your ability to be productive. If we can’t focus effectively, we can’t think effectively. And if we can’t think effectively, we definitely can’t produce the quality of work necessary to succeed. So, from this perspective, it’s not difficult to see why focus is such an essential tool for business success.
With that premise, pbm has created an internal development programme, called “Focused and Indistractable”, led by Shushanik Sargsyan pbm Chief Technical Officer. With the aim to keep the team focused, free from distractions and concentrate on things that really matter.
The programme concentrates on the internal triggers and understanding what is behind our behaviours, which are sometimes subconscious. This plan tries to keep the team more organised, focused and effective. There is also an added benefit as the team get to know each other from a different perspective. The project is based on one of the Mindvalley courses, “The 4 keys to Indistractable focus” where Vishen Lakhiani & Nir Eyal, one of the world’s leading experts in Habit Formation & Focus, shared a masterclass with a clear roadmap for regaining focus and productivity and eliminating unwanted distractions.
We asked Shushanik about how this project will help the company–”I think this project helps the people within the group to open up and be more vulnerable with each other. It allowed us a safe environment to open and discuss our internal triggers and have some honest conversations on our motivations and how they affect our work and ability to get things done. It gives some good life tips relevant to work and our lives, it taught us to use time boxing and it has been really good and helps you feel satisfied with the work you have achieved instead of focusing on perfection and results only. And she added – “This helps the company, by helping people become the best versions of themselves and bring a better version to work for their customers and colleagues. I think it aligns with the company values of striving for better in every way.”-
At pbm we believe that focus is so important because it is the gateway to all thinking: perception, memory, learning, reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making. Without good focus, all aspects of our ability to think will suffer. Without focus, we won’t be as effective in our work because if we are not concentrating on the right things or are distracted, we won’t be capable of getting our work done.
If we can take control of our ability to focus and block out distractions, we have given ourselves a powerful tool that will enable us to perform at a consistently high level and be both effective and efficient in our work efforts—the result: better quality work, more success, and achievement of your professional goals.
