PBM committed to the government’s initiative to be the fastest nation to decarbonise cars and vans.
In November 2020, the Prime Minister put the UK on course to be the fastest nation in the G7 to decarbonise cars and vans, announcing that all new petrol and diesel cars and vans will be phased out by 2030. In addition, in 2035, all cars and vans must be fully Zero-emission at the tailpipe; in 2040 IEA/ National Grids predicts 36 M EV’s on the UK roads, and at least 80% of EV charging will be done at home.
Delivering on these commitments will bring about benefits that will be felt right across the country. Zero-emission vehicles will improve air quality in our towns and cities and offer a cleaner and convenient driving for all. Electric motoring will also become cheaper than petrol or diesel equivalents, with price parity expected in the mid-2020s. More and more people will be able to make a move to electric. They will feel more positive in doing so if the charging infrastructure is in place.
Our Efforts in Action: Attenborough Court, Ironworks & more
We are proud to work in close cooperation with Wallace Estates Limited and Albanwise Synergy and share examples of successful EV dual charger installations at Attenborough Court and Ironworks in June 2021.
The encouraging results show at Attenborough Court that they avoided 2,169 Kg of greenhouse emissions from June to November, the equivalent of planting 55 trees and letting them grow for 10 years. Something similar happened to Ironworks, avoiding 1,216 Kg of greenhouse emissions in the same period, the equivalent of planting 31 trees and letting them grow for 10 years.
Both sites are being well utilised, with a monthly increase in the number of sessions per month and the number of drivers accessing the stations.
Another charge point has recently been installed at The Pines, and there are a number of other PBM managed sites in the pipeline for installation.
We work with Albanwise Synergy, who offer our leaseholders the opportunity to install shared charging points with no impact on service charge and contribute to the government targets for achieving Net-Zero.
At pbm we focus on sustainability supporting green initiatives by reducing greenhouse emissions.
